Noney Tragedy: Search operations extended for 3 more days

The mortal remains of two more Assam workers were cremated in their native village at Morigaon on Thursday.
The search operations at the landslide tragedy site in Noney have been extended by 3 more days till July 16.
This was decided during a review meeting of the district authorities and the NDRF, SDRF, and the Army yesterday.
A final call on the continuation of search operations will be taken on July 16 when the officials meet again. As many as 54 bodies have been recovered so far while at least 7 are still feared missing.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of two more Assam workers were cremated in their native village at Morigaon on Thursday.
The mortal remains of Hanuman Konwar and Utpal Phukan arrived from Manipur’s Noney today. Emotional scenes were witnessed as the families of both the deceased workers bid their final adieu.
It may be mentioned here that so far 13 bodies have been cremated in the same village. Additionally, two more persons from Morigaon remain missing.

The Manipur Police along with a team of Assam Rifles also conducted search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the state.
