So finally, the suspense is over, N Biren Singh is the Chief Minister of Manipur once again. N Biren and Thongam Biswajit were considered the frontrunners for the CM’s post and eventually it is N Biren Singh who made the cut.

As per sources, it was not an easy call for the Party high command with as many as 2 rounds of discussions being held with the aspirants. Apart from N Biren Singh and Thongam Biswajit, speculations were also doing round that K Govindas and former speaker Y Khemchand are also in the race. However, eventually, N Biren Singh has the last laugh. It is to be seen now as to what cabinet posts are given to the other top leaders.

Meanwhile, NEDA convener and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated N Biren Singh for becoming the CM for the second time. Taking to Twitter, Sarma stated “Heartiest congratulations to N Biren Singh on getting elected as Chief Minister of Manipur once again. Under your able leadership, Manipur will continue on the path of accelerated growth & development.”
