The Assam Government has decided to relax the night curfew hours in the state from February 1 onwards. This was stated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday while addressing media at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati.

Keeping the fact in mind that the hospitalisation rate has been quite low even though cases have increased, the authorities would be relaxing the curfew by one hour.

From February 1 onwards, the night curfew will again start from 11 pm instead of 10 pm which is in force right now.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that curfew hours will be relaxed as the government does not want livelihood and businesses to be affected by the Covid-19 restrictions.

Chief Minister Sarma further said that gradually the classes in schools and colleges will be reopened in a phased manner. Meanwhile, the condition for 7 days home quarantine will continue to be in force.

Assam in the last 24 hours reported 2,277 fresh cases of infection pushing the tally to 6,92,811.

On the other hand, the state also reported 13 fatalities due to Covid-19 during the period pushing the death toll to 6,301.

Meanwhile, a total of 6,118 patients attained recovery and were discharged yesterday bringing the total number with recoveries to 6,41,347. This put Assam’s recovery rate at 92.57 percent.
