Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today came out all guns blazing against the Punjab government and demanded that Punjab Chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi be arrested over the breach

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today came out all guns blazing against the Punjab government and demanded that Punjab Chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi be arrested over the breach in security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister Sarma said that a conspiracy was hatched to target Prime Minister Modi as he referred to a sting operation by a news outlet that had revealed the plot. Chief Minister Sarma said that the conspiracy was hatched as early as January 2. According to Sarma, the Punjab government was fully involved in the plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb too lashed out at the Punjab government as well as the Congress for the breach in Prime Minister Modi’s security. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that the top Congress leadership was hand in glove with anti-nationalists to plan an attack on Prime Minister Modi.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has also joined the chorus in slamming the role of the Punjab government regarding the breach in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister N Biren Singh condemning the incident in the strongest terms said that it was a deliberate ploy of the Congress government in Punjab to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier in a sting operation by a national news channel, reporters went undercover and met Ferozepur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhdev Singh. When asked how the state intelligence units had failed to foresee what happened before PM Modi’s scheduled rally, he said that a report was sent to the Additional Director General of Police on January 2 regarding protesters’ plan to stop traffic on crucial roads and prevent BJP workers from reaching PM Modi’s rally.

He informed that the SPG had already alerted the Punjab administration that PM Modi would visit the road in case the weather was bad and arrangements should be made in this regard. The sting operation has revealed based on the photographs of the day that the road was not cleared even after that.

As per the sting report, DSP Sukhdev Singh further said that the protesters had gathered at 11.45 pm and were heading towards Moga Road. The message was sent to higher authorities at 12:07 p.m. Then, at 12:20 p.m., the protesters broke the Ferozshah barricade. The protesters were moving on the same route from where PM Modi’s convoy was about to arrive. A message was sent at 12:32 p.m. At 1.45 pm, SSP was informed that 200-225 protesters had blocked the VVIP route. At 12:52, PM Modi’s convoy reached there and had to return at 1:10 p.m. after being stranded for about 20 minutes. SHO Birbal Singh of Kulgarhi police station in Ferozepur said that no order was issued by the state government to remove the protesters.
