A day after Karnataka MLA KR Ramesh Kumar made a controversial remark regarding women and rape , the Congress legislator today apologised for his comments in the Assembly.

The Congress MLA said if it hurts the sentiments of women, then he has no problem apologising, and he does so from the bottom of his heart.

Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri tried to end the matter with the MLA tendering his apology.

Senior Karnataka Congress leader and former Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar made the controversial comment on rape on Thursday.

Speaking in the Assembly, Kumar said, “There is a saying that when rape is inevitable, lie down and enjoy it. That is exactly the position in which you are.”

Meanwhile, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minister Sashikala Jolle condemned the Congress MLA’s statement and added said lady BJP MLAs will be staging a protest against Ramesh Kumar’s statement today.
