‘Water Burial’ in Monpa Dialect Best Film on environmental conservation

– In the 67th national film awards handed over today at New Delhi Vigyan Bhawan, Water Burial, a film made in Monpa dialect of Arunachal Pradesh won the best film

– In the 67th national film awards handed over today at New Delhi Vigyan Bhawan, Water Burial, a film made in Monpa dialect of Arunachal Pradesh won the best film on environmental conservation.

Iewduh was adjudged as the Best Khasi Film. Devojit Gayan won the national award for Best Audiography for the same movie.

For Assam it was Ranua by Chandra Mudoi won the Rajat Kamal as the best movie. Shantanu Sen and the Sanjeev Narain were conferred the Rajat Kamal as the director and producer of Water Burial.

It was a special day for Sikkim as it was honoured as the most film friendly state.
Jonaki Parua by Benjamin Daimari was given a special mention at the awards. Of the movies from the Northeast which made the honours list Water Burial has already encountered when the awards were announced a few months back. Sourced from ‘Sa Kata Manuh’ written in Assamese by Arunachalee author Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, the author had distanced from the movie as he was in no way associated with the project.

The 67th National Awards were for the movies that were made in the year 2019. Superstar Rajnikant was conferred the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema.
