Is there a vested political intent behind the rising instances of encroachment in Assam? Well, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today reiterated that illegal settlers have been deliberately and scientifically shifting across constituencies to change the demography of the particular constituency. Chief Minister Sarma stated that illegal settlers are trying to change the demography of places like Sipajhar, Borsola and Lumding, as shown by intelligence inputs. These people, as Chief Minister said, are not only encroaching forest and agricultural lands, but also enlisting their names in the voters lists. He warned that such incidents are alarming.
Chief Minister Sarma further stated that a section of people were simply trying to defame the BJP-led government in Assam. Appealing that citizens of the country must look at things from ground zero, he reiterated that the state government stands for its indigenous people.
Slamming the Popular Front of India or PFI, Chief Minister Sarma stated the government has ample evidence against the organization, and thereby urged the Centre to ban the PFI.
