Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs on the occasion of 73rd anniversary of Naga Martyr’s Day at Mao Gate in Manipur’s Senapati district, which was organised by the Mao Council under the aegis of the United Naga Council.

Three civilians were reportedly shot dead by the Assam Rifles during the “No House Tax Campaign” against the government back in 1948. Ever since then, the day has been observed as Naga Martyr’s Day.

Representatives and delegations from various Naga Civil bodies and Union attended the anniversary program at Mao Gate on Friday.

Dignitaries including Naga Hoho General Secretary, Elu Ndang, President Tenyimi People’s Organization Timikha Koza, Naga Students Federation General Secretary Siipunii Ng. Philo, All Naga Students Association, Manipur, General Secretary AC Thotso, Naga Women’s Union President, Asha Wungnam, UNC President Kho John as well as Mao Council President, Dr. Saheni Loli addressed the congregation during the event.
