COVID-19: Meghalaya CM thanks Assam CM for aid in oxygen supply

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday held consultations via video conference with his Assam counterpart Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and discussed collective efforts and cooperation between both states to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
“Conrad Sangma thanked Himanta Biswa Sarma for the support being extended by the Assam government to provide oxygen to Meghalaya,” a statement from CMO stated.
“Discussions held with Hon’ble CM of Assam, Dr. @himantabiswa Ji on concerted efforts between Meghalaya & Assam in managing the Covid situation. Thank him for assuring necessary support. We will continue to work together through this crisis,” tweeted Conrad Sangma.
The Meghalaya CM has requested further cooperation from the Assam government, in case of any eventuality, it added.
Assam CM also assured coordination from Assam and requested support from Meghalaya government to ensure transportation of goods is not affected due to lockdown in districts of Meghalaya. Responding to which, CM Sangma assured smooth transit of citizens and goods during the period.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya registered the highest single-day COVID-19 positive cases with 906 on Tuesday even as the government has extended the total lockdown in the East Khasi Hills district till May 31.
The total lockdown will remain in force for a period of 11 days from 8 PM on May 19 till 5 AM on May 31.
