Former Arunachal Pradesh Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) leader Jotom Toko Takam passed away on Tuesday.

According to reports, Takam, who had a medical history of prolonged illness died his on way to a hospital in Assam at around 1.30 AM.

The former minister, with suspected brain haemorrhage, was being taken to a private facility at Dibrugarh.

He was 54 and is survived by his wife and five children.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma mourned the untimely demise of the former minister.

In his condolence message on Twitter, Sangma wrote, “I am saddened by the untimely demise of Toko Takam former Minister and Vice-President of National People’s Party (NPP) Arunachal Pradesh. It’s a huge loss for the NPP. My deepest condolences to the family members. May his soul RIP.”

The state unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) also mourned Takams demise and said, his death has created a void in the political circle of the state.
