The US tourist who has been tested positive for Coronavirus in Bhutan has travelled to the neighbouring country from Assam.
The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan reported its first case of the coronavirus after a US tourist tested positive.
The US tourist had first arrived in Assam from Kolkata following which he travelled to other parts of the state.
The US tourist had travelled to Jorhat, following which he went to Majuli and travelled to Guwahati via cruise and stayed at the Radisson Hotel in Guwahati before finally leaving for Bhutan on March 2nd.
The Coronavirus affected tourist was also accompanied by one of his friends and had accessed the LGBI airport, besides other places in Jorhat and Majuli.
Meanwhile, India’s neighbor Bhutan has also stepped up efforts to check the spread of Coronavirus.
According to news agency ANI, Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering has confirmed one positive case of COVID-19 till date in the country.
Following this, screening centres have been set up at Samdrup Jongkhar town which is located at the southeastern part of Bhutan and shares the international borders with Assam.
