Assam Youth Congress leader Zubair Anam was arrested by the police on Friday on charges of resorting to vandalism at the Sankardev Kalakshetra during violent anti-CAA protests in Guwahati last December.

An unruly mob allegedly led by the youth Congress leader had vandalised property of Sankardev Kalakshetra including the entrance.

Zubair Anam was arrested from the Assam Congress headquarter when he was briefing the media. Accused Zubair Anam is currently being interrogated by Dispur police.

It may be mentioned, that Assam Youth Congress president Kamrul Islam was also arrested earlier on similar charges.

Anti-CAA protests had turned violent in Guwahati forcing the state government to clamp curfew.
