2016 Arunachal DSP murder: Wanted killed in encounter

A wanted criminal accused of killing Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bomto Kamdak in 2016, was reportedly killed in an encounter on Saturday, in a small village near Rama Camp Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district.

Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh Director General of Police had offered a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for sharing information leading to the arrest of the man who allegedly killed DSP Bomto Kamdak.

The accused, Togyung Yangfo alias Jombo Yangfo, had earlier escaped from police custody and was hiding at his wife’s residence at Chyangtajo. When the police team led by Kamdak went in search of him at Chyangtajo, Yangfo suddenly opened fire at the police team. In the exchange of gunfire another person was killed and two others, including a woman, were injured.

Bomto Kamdak was posthumously conferred with the first Arunachal Ratna award in 2016. Kamdak, who was posted as a DSP in East Kameng district was killed in an exchange of gunfire between the police and miscreants at Seppa on August 13, 2016.

31-year-old Kamdak belonged to the 2012 batch of Arunachal Pradash Police Service. The BTech degree holder in Information Technology hailed from the Galo tribe in Aalo town of West Siang district.
