BJP continues its dominance over three out of four seats in Assam. The party has retained the Rangapara and Ratabari constituencies in the assembly bypolls, while its party candidate is leading in Sonari.

In Rangapara, party candidate Rajen Borthakur defeating his nearest Congress candidate Kartik Kurmi won by a massive 49,599 votes. Ratabari candidate Bijoy Malakar won by 24,001 votes defeating Congress candidate Keshab Prasad Rajak.

BJP candidate Nabanita Handique is leading the race against Congress candidate Sushil Kumar Suri in Sonari.

 

Meanwhile, in Jania constituency, which has been considered a Congress bastion so far, AIUDF’s Rafiqul Islam won by 35,037 votes. AIUDF has been dominating the seat of Jania since the counting began in the morning.
