Tripura: Two Bangladeshi Women Arrested, Cannabis Worth Rs 2.5 Lakh Seized

These efforts resulted in the arrest of two Bangladeshi women and a drug trafficker from West Bengal in two separate incidents.
As many as two Bangladeshi nationals and a drug trafficker were arrested by the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and intelligence agencies.
These efforts resulted in the arrest of two Bangladeshi women and a drug trafficker from West Bengal in two separate incidents.
On the evening of February 15, two Bangladeshi nationals, Farzana (23) from Satkhira and Tania Akhter Nijhum (23) from Munshiganj, were apprehended at Agartala railway station. During interrogation, the women claimed they were travelling to Bengaluru. Following their arrest, a case was registered under the BMS, Passport Act, and Foreigner’s Act at Agartala GRP police station.
Later that night, a joint team of GRP Agartala and the RPF arrested Vishal Rai from Siliguri, West Bengal, for attempting to smuggle 23.605 kg of dried cannabis hidden in two trolley bags. The consignment, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 lakh, was intended for transportation to another state. A case was registered under the NDPS Act at Agartala GRP police station.
Authorities have intensified interrogations, and further arrests are expected as investigations continue. The GRP has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling illegal activities on railway premises, ensuring heightened security at Agartala railway station.
