PDF chief PN Syiem has quit the party he formed after being allegedly sidelined by fellow party leaders.

Syiem, who was the chairman of PDF, shot off a resignation letter to party president Ivanlumlang Marbaniang.

In the resignation letter Syiem stated that since the party he had exerted to establish was not in need of his service any longer, he has decided to quit to avoid any internal or unstoppable conflict.

Syiem’s resignation comes at a crucial time before the elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council in February.

Syiem, who was a Congress MLA from Mawsynram, formed the PDF after he revolted against the then chief minister Mukul Sangma.
