14-member Finance Commission team visits Nagaland; Govt seeks Centre’s help

Following the visit of a 14-member team of the 15th Finance Commission to Kohima on Tuesday, the Nagaland government sought an amount of nearly Rs 8 crore from the centre for the overall development of the state.
Nagaland Finance Secretary Y Kikheto Sema, while interacting with newspersons informed that the state government had submitted the requirement through a memorandum to the visiting team of the 15th Finance Commission.
According to the memorandum, out of the total requirement, an amount of Rs. 707.10 crore will be required annually for repair and maintenance of infrastructural assets which amounts to over Rs 3 thousand crore for a period of five years under 35 departments.
The 14-member 15th Finance Commision team led by its chairman NK Singh had come to Nagaland for a 3-day visit to hold talks with the Nagaland government.
Meanwhile, after concluding a fruitful visit to Nagaland, the Finance Commission visited Manipur on Thursday and conducted a meeting with representatives of various political parties. The Commission will meet Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh on Friday.
