Manipur CM Urges Unity Among Communities at IRB Passing Out Parade in Assam

CM N. Biren Singh said the importance of harmony among communities, particularly in the current context of Manipur's challenges.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh appealed to the newly inducted personnel of the 10th and 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) to foster love and unity among all communities, as witnessed during their training period in Assam. The remarks were made during the Passing Out Parade held at Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Dergaon, Assam.

Speaking on the occasion, CM N. Biren Singh said the importance of harmony among communities, particularly in the current context of Manipur’s challenges. “We all need to share the stories of love and the harmonious atmosphere experienced during training with our families when we return. The government plans to post personnel by mixing individuals from all communities across the state. Once we take the oath and don the uniform, we are not just members of a community but soldiers of the nation,” he said.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that the deployment of the newly trained personnel would help restore peace and normalcy in Manipur. “It brings immense joy to see you all after months of rigorous training. Your efforts will significantly contribute to maintaining law and order in the state. The government is committed to achieving peace, and your service will play a important role in this mission,” he added.

The training in Assam was facilitated with the full cooperation of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam Director General of Police (DGP) G.P. Singh. CM N. Biren Singh highlighted that the new recruitment was initiated to ensure better security along Manipur’s national highways, which have seen numerous incidents in recent years. He acknowledged the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Home Minister and current Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in approving this recruitment drive.

The Passing Out Parade was attended by a 23-member delegation led by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, including six state ministers, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Home Commissioner, Assam DGP G.P. Singh, Special DGP Harmeet Singh, and senior Army officers.
