JAC Issues Ultimatum to Manipur Govt Over Missing Man Case, Intensifies Sit-in Protest

They demand swift action and answers about Kamalbabu, who has been missing since November 26, 2024.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC), along with the family of Laishram Kamalbabu, residents, and various civil society organizations (CSOs) today issued a five-day deadline to the Manipur government, demanding an emergency Cabinet to discuss the case of Laishram Kamalbabu who is missing since November 25.
They want the Cabinet to adopt a strong resolution for action.
The JAC warned that failure to meet this demand would result in more intensified forms of agitation.
The warning comes even as the JAC continued their sit-in protest in front of the 57 Mountain Division Army Camp in Leimakhong for the 12th consecutive day.
Meanwhile, a high-level investigation team, including the Deputy Commissioners of Imphal West and Kangpokpi, and Superintendents of Police from both districts, visited the Leimakhong Army Camp to discuss the case with Army officials. However, apart from updates on ongoing search operations, no substantial breakthroughs or clues have emerged to trace the missing man.
As protests grow, the pressure mounts on both the government and the Army to provide clarity and tangible results in this mysterious disappearance case. Protesters have vowed to continue their demonstrations until their demands are met.
