The Manipur University Teachers Association (MUTA) on Thursday rubbished talks doing the rounds that its president I Tomba Singh had joined the Congress.
The MUTA said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had last month sent a letter to it appreciating the association’s continued fight for the removal of VC Pandey who has been accused of serious misdemeanors.
The MUTA added that its president Tomba Singh had merely gone to the state congress office to ascertain if the letter was genuine giving rise to speculations that he had joined the Congress.
Talking to Northeast Live MUTA spokesperson Prof Nimai Singh said that the MUTA believed in keeping equal distance from both the BJP and the Congress.
