The association also plans to meet with all 12 cabinet ministers, including the Chief Minister, to push for a policy ensuring job security for SSA teachers.

The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has given a two-month ultimatum to the state government, urging the formulation of a policy to secure the services of SSA teachers, similar to that in other states.

During a general meeting, MSSASA emphasized that if the government fails to act within the given timeframe, the association will resort to a democratic agitation.

Speaking to the media, MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said, “After detailed discussion and deliberation, we have unanimously taken a decision to choose or to opt out of the two issues – enhancement of salary and security of services. We have chosen to put pressure on the government to come up with a policy to secure the services of the SSA teachers in the state of Meghalaya as was done in other states of the country.”

“We have also decided to give a two-month ultimatum to the government (to come up with the policy). Within this two months’ time, the education department should complete all the formalities and put up the file to the cabinet for further necessary action from the state government,” Rymbai added.

He further said, “We have taken a decision that if the state government fails to come up with a policy within this two month periods, we from the association will be left with no option but to organize a democratic movement or agitation if the state government does not heed its demand.”

The association also plans to meet with all 12 cabinet ministers, including the Chief Minister, to push for a policy ensuring job security for SSA teachers.

This decision follows discussions with senior officials from the education department, who informed the association that the government is preparing a cabinet memorandum to address the demands.
