Nagaland Govt to hold consultative meeting over Naga political issue with all tribal bodies on Sept 12

The Political Affairs Committee of Nagaland government had decided to hold consultative meetings with apex tribal bodies and civil society organizations on taking forward the Naga Political Issue.
The Nagaland Government has convened a consultative meeting on September 12 in Kohima to deliberate on the long pending Naga political issue.
This comes after the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of Nagaland government had decided to hold consultative meetings with apex tribal bodies and civil society organizations on taking forward the Naga Political Issue.
The decision to this effect was taken during the state government’s PAC meeting held last month in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. The Rio government had constituted the PAC on Naga political issue in November 2023 to facilitate an early solution to the vexed issue.
The meeting will be attended by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CMs TR Zeliang and Yanthungo Patton, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker, all ministers, Members of Parliament, all advisors and legislators, chief secretary, along with other senior officials of the state government.
The government has requested the presidents of the following organizations to attend the meeting with two representatives each– Central Nagaland Tribes Council, Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization, Tenyimi Union Nagaland, Angami Public Organization, Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho, Ao Senden, Watsü Mundang, Chakhesang Public Organisation, Chakhesang Women Organisation, Chang Khulei Setsang, Changsao Thangjam Setshang, Konyak Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Phom Peoples’ Council, Phomla Hoichem.
Pochury Hoho, Pochury Mothers’ Association, Rengma Hoho, Rengma Mothers’ Association, Sumi Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho, United Sangtam Likhum Pumji, Akehda Sangtamlarü Thsingmajang, Tikhir Tribal Council, Kuisam, Tikhir Women Organisation/bodies, Yimkhiung Tribal Council, Yimkhiung Women Organisation, Nagaland Zeliang People Organization, Zeliang Mipui Organisation, Naga Mothers’ Association, Eastern Nagaland Women Organization/body, Naga Students’ Federation, Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation, All Nagaland College Students Union, Global Naga Forum, GBs Federation, Forum for Naga Reconciliation, Nagaland Joint Christian Forum, NPHMR and members of Political Consultative Committees. Gazetted Officers’ Association of the Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Konyak, Khiamniungan, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, and Eastern Nagaland.
On August 30, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had urged all Naga political groups and stakeholders to be sensitive to the expectations of the people and to ensure that a solution is reached without further delay. He called for continued sincere efforts to achieve this goal, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s office.
Rio made these remarks while delivering his concluding speech on matters of urgent public importance related to the Naga political issue on the last day of the fifth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
