Cyclone Remal throws life out of gear in Manipur, heavy rains swell up rivers, mudslides disrupt traffic

In the Senapati district, rivers overflow, and floodwaters have entered multiple localities, creating a dire situation for residents.
Cyclone Remal triggered heavy rainfall in Manipur for the last two days, caused widespread havoc, leading to waterlogging and disrupting traffic in various districts, which affected normal life.
The continuous downpour resulted in flash floods across the Imphal Valley and triggered a landslide on the Imphal-Jiribam Road.
As per inputs, flash floods also occurred on NH102, known as AH1 and Imphal-Moreh Road, resulting in traffic congestion. Even inter-village roads were affected, disrupting transportation.
Locals were seen clearing blocked drains, which were clogged with plastic bottles and debris. Despite their efforts, the situation remained critical.
Electricity supply was severely impacted due to flooding at transformer stations and electricity department offices. Houses and offices near the District Transport Office, close to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat road, were submerged in floodwaters.
Meanwhile, a mudslide near Sinam village in Kangpokpi district has swept a truck into a gorge on the NH 37 Imphal-Silchar highway. Several other trucks have been left stranded, waiting for excavators to clear the debris.
In the Senapati district, rivers overflow, and floodwaters have entered multiple localities, creating a dire situation for residents. The Imphal River has swelled to dangerous levels, adding to the impact of the relentless downpour.
However, no report of death or injury has been reported in the heavy rain.
