Lok Sabha Polls- Assam: Over 77 lakh voters to seal fate of 61 candidates in second phase tomorrow

A total of 9133 polling stations have been set up for the conduct of the elections in 5 parliamentary constituencies
As many as 61 candidates including 2 female candidates, would be battling it out for 5 Parliamentary seats in Assam in the second phase of Lok Sabha polls tomorrow, April 26.
The total number of voters eligible to cast their votes in the second phase is 77,09,276, out of which 38,78,667 are male voters and 38,30,439 are female voters. There are 170 third gender voters.
As per information shared by the Election Commission the total number of voters in the second phase also includes- 61,548 PwD voters, 34,5489 (85+voters), 862 (100+voters) and 1,21,769 voters in the age group of 18-19 years.
A total of 9133 polling stations have been set up for the conduct of the elections. Among these 906 are urban polling stations while 8227 are rural polling stations. 473 are all women managed polling stations.
The 5 seats that goes to polls tomorrow are Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar and Nagaon.
The highest number of candidates – 24 are contesting from the Karimganj parliamentary constituency. The Diphu parliamentary constituency has the lowest number of contesting candidates at 5.
Diphu constituency has the lowest number of voters- 9,01,032 voters while the Darrang-Udalguri seat has the highest number of voters- 22,09,314.
Assam has 14 Lok Sabha seats. Voting for 5 seats were held in phase one on April 19. Voting for the remaining 4 seats – Barpeta, Dhubri, Guwahati and Kokrajhar will be held in the third phase on May 7.
