Lok Sabha Polls Phase 2: Voting for 13 Outer Manipur constituencies tomorrow

There are 4 candidates in the fray. Outer Manipur has 1,010,618 eligible voters
The stage is set for voting for the 13 of the total 28 assembly segments in Outer Manipur parliamentary seat of Manipur tomorrow, April 26.
In the first phase of polling on April 19, voting took place for the Inner Manipur seat and 15 assembly constituencies of Outer Manipur seat.
Manipur has 1,959,426 voters, of which 1,010,618 are from Outer Manipur.
A total of 628 polling stations have been set up for the voting for the Outer Manipur seat.
The candidates who would be contesting for the Outer Manipur seat are – Naga People’s Front’s (NPF) K Timothy Zimik, a retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Congress’s Ukhrul Alfred K Arthur, former Ukhrul MLA, and two independent candidates – Alyson Abonmei and S Kho John.
BJP did not field a candidate and decided to support Zimik.
NPF dropped its sitting Lok Sabha MP Lorho S Pfoze and named K Timothy Zimik as its candidate this time.
The 13 Assembly constituencies which will go to polls tomorrow are– Jiribam, Tengnoupal (ST), Phungyar (ST), Ukhrul (ST), Chingai (ST), Karong (ST), Mao (ST), Tadubi (ST), Tamei (ST), Tamenglong (ST), Nungba (ST), Tipaimukh (ST), and Thanlon (ST).
NPF’s Lorho S. Pfoze won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. He polled 3,63,527 votes. BJP candidate H Shokhopao Mate (Benjamin) polled 2,89,745 votes, while Congress candidate K James polled 1,52,510 votes.
It may be mentioned here that voting will take place tomorrow amid blasts reported from Kangpokpi, a storm lashing through several parts of Manipur leaving houses damaged and Kakching, Moreh, Churachandpur, Chandel and Elangkangpokpi without power.
