Professor W Viswanath has confirmed that he has assumed office as the in-charge Vice Chancellor of the Manipur university.

This comes a day after controversial Vice Chancellor AP Pandey striking a defiant posture said he is still in charge of the varsity.

Professor Pandey had also rejected the university’s September 3 circular that said he was sent on an extended leave.

In fact, VC Pandey refused to recognize the University chancellor Professor Dilip Nachane’s endorsement of his leave period saying that Professor Nachane’s term as the chancellor of the varsity ended in 2016 and that the issue of his reappointment was pending with the Union HRD ministry.

Teachers and faculty members in Manipur University are now working extra hours to recover the losses during the agitation over removal of Vice Chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey.

Talking exclusively to Northeast Live, In-charge Vice Chancellor of the university Professor W Viswanath maintained that the current situation in university has returned to normalcy.
