Sikkim BJP promises to create 25,000 jobs for women, and youths, raise financial aid for farmers and much more if elected

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Sikkim today promised to create 25,000 jobs for women and youths, increase financial assistance for farmers from 6,000 to 9,000 and much more in its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections 2024 in the state.

Party national president JP Nadda unveiled the party’s manifesto titled “Modi Ki Guarantee–Viksit Bharat Viksit Sikkim”.

The party has vowed to create 25,000 employment opportunities for the youth and women over the next five years.

The party said that it would establish the Sikkim State Youth Commission to cater to the diverse needs of youth, including employment, spirituality, education, sports, literature, art, music, and mental health.

It said that it will increase the annual financial assistance of farmers under PM Kisan Yojana from Rs 6,000 to 9,000.

Stating that the party is committed to ensuring peace and tranquillity in the state, the BJP said that it will work towards addressing the Limbu-Tamang seat reservation demand through active engagement with all relevant stakeholders. It will set up an expert committee to address the demand for tribal status for the 12 left-out communities of Sikkim.

It has promised to work towards developing Sikkim as an education hub by enhancing educational infrastructure and nurturing an environment suitable for higher education.

Moreover, it will give Rs 36,000 to recent graduates and Rs 12,000 to Class 12 graduates for one year helping them pursue higher education, launch start-ups, or save for future goals

Some of the key highlights of the BJP manifesto include:

• Inclusion of the Bhutia, Lepcha and Limbu languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

• Safeguard the essence and the substance and the spirit of 371F.’

• Empower women in the State by making 15,000 Lakhpati Didis.

• Establish the Regional Institute for Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Sikkim.

• Sponsor the coaching of 30 meritorious candidates each for JEE, NEET, CLAT and CUET entrance examinations.

• Launch of Sikkim Agri-Infra Mission with a corpus of Rs 500 crores to revamp the agricultural infrastructure of the state.

• Free health insurance coverage for all eligible beneficiaries under the PM Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

• Financial assistance of up to Rs 15 lakhs to BPL patients for organ transplantation of the heart, lung, liver, kidney, etc.

• Promotion of rural ecotourism by identifying Model Tourism Villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme.

• Free scooties to meritorious college-going female students.

• Establish a Bamboo Technology Park.

• Form a high-level committee to assess the damage caused by the Teesta Flood and compensate each affected family.

• CBI inquiry into the construction of the Teesta Dam project.

• Establishment of the Sikkim Folklore Museum and Centre.

• Establishment of the Sikkim Indigenous Cultural Institute in Gangtok.

• Artists in the fields of dance, music, literature and handicrafts to be given Rs 5,000 monthly.

Voting for the 32-member Sikkim Assembly and the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state will be held on April 19 and counting will take place on June 2.
