Sikkim Elections 2024: SDF promises washing machine, land to landless if voted to power

Five-time Sikkim Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front President Pawan Chamling on Saturday promised free rice, electricity and cooking gas to the villagers along with washing machines to every family if voted to power in the coming Assembly polls.

He also promised to allot half acre of land to the landless (Sukumbasi) villagers.

Furthermore, the SDF president assured that if voted to power, his party will establish ‘Janta Ko Bhansa Ghar’ (people’s kitchen) where people can enjoy a full meal at only Rs. 25. He also committed to establish a Degree College and Sports Academy in Barfung constituency.

Pawan Chamling said these at an election campaign meeting at Rabongla Bazaar for the Barfung constituency in Namchi district. He was accompanied by SDF Lok Sabha candidate PD Rai, Barfung candidate Bhaichung Bhutia and several other party leaders.

While addressing the people, Chamling assured several developmental programmes from the SDF for the upliftment of the rural population of Sikkim which would include full empowerment of panchayati system, livelihood and business opportunities, and tourism development.

He claimed that the 2024 elections is the final opportunity to save the identity and existence of Sikkim.
Himalayan state Sikkim will go for polls for the lone Lok Sabha seat and 32 seats of the state legislative assembly of Sikkim in the first phase on April 19. While, Counting of votes for the state assembly will be held on the June 2 and that of the lone Lok Sabha seat will be held on June 4.
