In 2013, Dipak Majumder had contested the assembly elections from Khowai assembly seat on a Congress ticket

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidate, Dipak Majumder, for the Ramnagar Assembly bypoll, which is slated to be held along with the Lok Sabha elections for the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat on April 19.

The BJP today announced the name of Dipak Majumder as the party candidate for by-election to the Ramnagar Assembly constituency to be held on April 19.

Dipak Majumder is presently serving as the Mayor in the BJP-run Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Dipak Majumder will be contesting against Congress backed CPI-M candidate and former MLA Ratan Das in the Ramnagar seat.

In 2013, Dipak Majumder had contested the assembly elections from Khowai assembly seat on a Congress ticket but had to face a defeat.

Tripura CM Manik Saha took to social media and congratulated Dipak Majumder. CM Saha wrote, “Many congratulations to Dipak Majumder, the BJP nominated candidate for 7 Ramnagar Assembly Constituency. To make the double-engine government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi more prosperous, I appeal to the voters of Ramnagar to press the ‘Lotus Symbol’ on April 19 and ensure Dipak Majumder’s victory with majority of votes.”

The Ramnagar seat fell vacant after the demise of BJP MLA Surajit Dutta died on December 28 last year following prolonged illness, necessitating the bypoll.
