38 villages in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district have been reeling under darkness since July 2015 with no new electricity transformer being installed for supply in the villages.

Chief of Bongjang village Ngamson Baite alleged that the Manipur State Power Corporation Limited and the Manipur Power Distribution Company Limited had not paid heed to their grievances.

It may be mentioned that the villages plunged into darkness after the transformer went out of order in 2015.

However, the 11th Assam Rifles stationed in Moreh had helped them by providing Solar Lamps to the villagers.

Though a 132/33KV power Sub-station was set up at Chikim Village, yet no fruitful outcome has been materialized so far.

Meanwhile, the village chief has also appealed the government to take concrete steps in this regard.
