The ITLF said that the decision was taken keeping in mind about the interests of the general public. But it has cautioned the Churachandpur SP and DC over their safety

In a big development, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has lifted its diktat asking for the closure of state government offices in Churachandpur.

But interestingly, the ITLF has cautioned the SP and DC of Churachandpur and said that they would be responsible for their own safety.

In it’s statement issued on February 18, the ITLF had sought for replacement of SP Shivanand Surve and DC S Dharun Kumar, as well as cancellation of suspension order of head constable Siamlalpaul, suspended over allegations that he had been training an armed group.

Citing reasons for it’s decision to withdraw the diktat, the ITLF issued a statement and said that it was decided so keeping in mind about the interests of the general public as well as the circumstances prevailing in the district.

Regarding it’s version about the presence of SP and DC in Churachandpur, the ITLF said, “In light of their safety, the DC and SP were ordered to depart. Nevertheless, it has come to light that they risked their lives to return to the district. They are now responsible for their own safety and security.”

Earlier yesterday, disregarding the warning issued by the Manipur Government on closing of government establishment and stopping of employees from coming to work, ITLF went ahead with its diktat and closed down all government offices in Churachandpur.

On Februrary 18, the Manipur Government had issued a notification after the ITLF diktat stating that it has taken strong exception to the ITLF’s diktat and hence had decided to issue a no work no pay notice to government employees skipping work without authorized leave.

The state government had also ordered that no one shall attempt or make an effort to follow or enforce the ITLF notice at any cost and warned that defaulters will be booked and prosecuted under relevant laws.
It may be mentioned that the ITLF on Sunday asked government employees to skip work on Monday.

The group took the step after a 24-hour deadline to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had passed asking for reinstatement of head constable Siamlalpaul, who was suspended over allegations that he had been training an armed group.

What did the ITLF diktat say?
