Tripura: Pradyot Debbarma urges state’s militants to come overground, refrain from violence

Debbarma encouraged tribal youths who have taken up arms for giving up violence and come to the talks table

TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Tuesday issued a heartfelt appeal to the state’s militants, currently situated across the border in Bangladesh, urging them to refrain from violence and return to peaceful lives.

Taking to Facebook, Debbarma encouraged tribal youths who have taken up arms for giving up violence and come to the talks table.

“People who are outside in Bangladesh. You have chosen the path of violence. Violence will not help you, so please come to the negotiation table, negotiate, and have a discussion. Come over ground and fight for your people, bring development and progress to our people. I will stand with you,” said Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.

Making an appeal to party leaders to keep commmunity above party politics, Debbarma said that it is the community and the people that build a nation.

No party or organisation can be above the community. Every political leaders should stand united, irrespective of their political ideologies, when the question is about the identity of the community, Debbarma added.
