Curfew has also been imposed in Moreh after there was a flare up last night in the border town following the arrest of Phillips Khongsai
The District Administration of Tengnoupal in Manipur has imposed total curfew in the entire district starting 12AM today. In an order issued yesterday, Krishna Kumar, District Magistrate of Tengnoupal said that curfew was relaxed on January 14 to allow people to buy essentials but because of intelligence inputs that peace could be breached and peoples’ lives might be at risk, the district administration decided to impose total curfew in Tengnoupal till further orders.
“There is a likelihood of breach of peace, disturbance of public tranquillity and grave danger to human lives and property within the revenue jurisdiction of Tengnoupal District…therefore curfew relaxation stands cancelled,” the order read.
Essential services and government agencies have been exempted from the curfew.
Curfew has also been imposed in Moreh after there was a flare up last night in the border town following the arrest of Phillips Khongsai said to be the main accused in the killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand in October last year.
