A powerful bomb blast rocked Lamlong Bazar in Imphal East District before dawn today. As per reports the bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device, was planted at the front door of a Pharmacy and went off at around 2:45 AM in the wee hours today.

The blast blew off the door of the pharmacy and affected other shops in the area as well. The ensuing fire from the blast reduced medicines, furniture & other items in the pharmacy to ashes.

Reportedly the shrapnel from the blast hit shops across the street. However, no casualties have been reported from the incident.

Meanwhile, a team from Porompat Police Station immediately rushed to the spot for preliminary investigations.
