Congress on Thursday announced another list of two more candidates, just after it announced the third list of 26 candidates late Wednesday night for the ensuing Assam Assembly elections.
The recently announced candidates for the second phase, include Ratan Engti and Sum Ronghang who will contest from Bokajan and Diphu seat respectively.
In the first list, the party announced the names of 40 party candidates and in the second list, Congress announced the names of three candidates.
Meanwhile, the three-phase Assam Assembly election 2021 is scheduled to be held on March 27, April 1 and April 6, 2021.
According to the list, Sambhu Sing Mallah has been given party ticket to contest the Ratabari seat while Sachin Sahoo will contest the Patharkandi Assembly seat. Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha has been given party ticket for Karimganj North.
Accordingly, Suresh Borah has been given Congress ticket to contest for the Barhampur Assembly seat, which has been represented by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader and former two-time Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta for the last six terms.
Meanwhile, Mahanta has been denied AGP ticket this time and BJP has fielded Jitu Goswami for the Barhampur seat.
The other candidates and their constituencies are Siddique Ahmed for Karimganj South, Sanjeev Roy for Katlichera, Tamal Kanti Banik for Silchar, Kamakhya Prasad Mala for Dholai, Ajit Singh for Udharbond, Mukesh Pandey for Lakhipur, Misbahul Islam Laskar for Barkhola, Khalil Uddin Majumdar for Katigora.
Meanwhile, Nirmal Langthasa will contest the Haflong seat, Sanjeeb Teron will contest the Howraghat seat, Augustine Enghee to contest the Baithalangso seat, Kishor Kr. Bhattacharya to contest the Kamalpur seat, Pradyut Kumar Bhuyan for Nalbari, Kuldip Barua for Sipajhar, and Basanta Das for Mangaldoi, among others.
Md. Ilias Ali – Dalgaon, Swapan Kumar Mandal – Jagiroad (SC), Dr. Asif Mohd Nazar – Laharighat, Sashi Kanta Das – Raha (SC), Santanu Sarma – Nowgong, Debabrata Saha – Hojai, Swapan Kar – Lumding.
