David Thingchum Sangtam was sworn in as a member of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) at Dr Imkongliba Hall, Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Thursday.

Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi administered the oath of secrecy to the member of NPSC.

A host of legislators led by minister planning and coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs Neiba Kronu, advisors, senior government officials attended the swearing-in ceremony.

The newly inducted member was also accompanied by civil societies from ENPO.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet sub-committee has recommended for a total review of the reservation policy in the state. The decision was taken during the cabinet sub-committee meeting held on January 6 wherein the members discussed about the Staff Selection Board (SSB).

Informing this to media persons on the side of an event at Raj Bhavan, minister of planning and coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs, Neiba Kronu said it may take time to review the entire reservation policy however he said it was time for review.

Kronu said though some members could not attend the cabinet sub-committee meeting, members present at the meeting echoed the same for a total review of the reservation policy.

The minister added that suggestions were also made to invite intellectuals from all areas including ENPO and other tribes to work out the formula since the reservation review cannot be held time and again.

Considering the different number of population in various districts some of which has higher while some districts have lower population, Kronu said its time to review the reservation policy while also the roster policy was applicable now or not and said this has to reviewed as well.

He said the sub-committee has put its recommendation to the cabinet for approval.

On the demand and deadline of the ENSF which expires on January 10, Kronu said the cabinet has entrusted its member P. Paiwang Konyak and Toshi Wungtung to apprise ENSF.
