A team of Imphal West police along with Bengaluru Police arrested 3 cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party (Angamba group) on February 19 from a rented house of Goraguntepalya locality in Bengaluru, on the grounds of making extortion bids.

Superintendent of police, Imphal West, K Meghachandra informed that the arrested trio was brought back to Imphal on Tuesday evening.

The three arrested cadres have been identified as Sarangthem Gyaneshwor Singh alias Gopeshwor, Lairenlakpam Mainhar Singha, and Thangjam Nandakishor Singha.

K Meghachandra informed that the city police had received information that underground organization Kangleipak Communist Party (Angamba group), under the command of secretary finance of the party Pari Meitei, demanded a sum of rupees one crore each from the chairman and general manager of some banks in Paona bazar and Thangal Bazar areas.

He said the party served an ultimatum to the banks to deposit the amount to the organisation by February 25 after contacting them through one mobile number and warned the banks of serious consequences if the demands were not complied with.

3 mobile phones, 6 sim cards, 1 stamp bearing the name of Pari Meitei, the Secretary Finance of the group, and other incriminating articles were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
