In response to a written question by senior Congress leader Nabam Tuki in the ongoing state assembly session, Arunachal Pradesh education minister Taba Tedir revealed that as many as 311 schools are defunct due to zero enrollments.
Tedir said that as per the data provided by the Unified District Information on School Education Plus for the period of 2018 to 2019, the state has recorded a total of 311 defunct schools.
The education minister further said that most of the schools are located in the remote areas of the state and the major reasons for zero enrollment was due to lack of infrastructural facilities in the remote areas and lack of students due to migration of parents towards the district headquarters.
