Illegal coal mining has yet again taken a toll in the state of Meghalaya.
In what reflects the alleged failure of the administration as many as four people died after a coal laden truck met with an accident in East Jaintia Hills.
The four people died on the spot when the truck loaded with 10 tons of coal was on its way to another depot. The incident took place at Sutunga in East Jaintia Hills.
According to sources, illegal transportation of coal is common in the area. It may be mentioned that the state is yet to come to terms with the infamous Ksan coal tragedy with the bodies of most of the miners who died in the incident yet to be retrieved.
