LS Polls: Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district police gears up for smooth conduct of polls

East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi informed that the state government has been requested for requirment of 18 companies of CAPF and State Armed Police.
The East Khasi Hills District administration is on a war footing in terms of preparedness for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The Shillong Parliamentary seat comes under this district. Exactly a month to go for the election, the East Khasi Hills district police has intensified the vigil particularly in the sensitive areas to ensure that there is no law and order situation.
East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi told newspersons that elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the election. Ravi informed that the state government has been requested for requirment of 18 companies of CAPF and State Armed Police.
Sharing details, the EKH district SP informed, “The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force. Keeping that in our mind and following ECI instructions FST and SST teams have already been constituted and they are on job. We are conducting round the clock naaka checking and maintaining proper and high level of vigil all across the city and the district.
We have requested the government to provide us with an additional 11 companies of CAPF and 7 companies of SAP (State Armed Police). So total 18 additional companies of forces we have projected. Out of that 3 companies we have already received- 2 companies of CRPF which was already used in law and order duties has now been converted to election duties. One company of BSF we have received. All these 3 companies are already deployed.”
