The demand for removal of the Deputy Commissioner of Mamit district in Mizoram has intensified.

Several NGO’s took to the streets in Aizawl demanding transfer of DC Bhupesh Choudhary for conducting the revision of the voters list in the six Bru relief camps in Tripura.

The discord started to flare up last month when Choudhary ordered the arrest of office bearers of Central Young Mizo Association, Mizo Zirlai Pawl, Mizo Students’ Association, Mizo Students Union besides two other groups in connection with a burglary at the office of the district election officer, in which the voter enlistment forms duly filled in by the displaced Bru people in Tripura relief camps were stolen.

NGO Coordination Committee leader Vanlalruata said that Bhupesh Chaudhary is not fit to be a Deputy Commissioner in a state like Mizoram and demanded the DC to leave the state immediately.
