Formalin-laced fish seized in Kohima

Officials of the Kohima Municipal Council along with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India seized four trucks full of formalin-laced fish and dumped it at the KMC dumping ground.
Officials of the Kohima Municipal Council along with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India seized four trucks full of formalin-laced fish and dumped it at the KMC dumping ground.
Following a surprise check, the KMC and food safety officials intercepted 4 mini trucks carrying fish slated to be delivered in Kohima and Phek districts. The fish being supplied was found to contain high level of formalin or other forms of preservatives.
Food safety commissioner-cum-commissioner & Secretary Himato Zhimomi has on 22nd June 2018 prohibited storage, distribution and sale of fresh fish products, including crustaceans treated with formalin or other forms of preservatives in Nagaland for a period of 3 months or till corrective measures are taken with immediate effect.
