Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio made a startling revelation today that integration of Naga-inhabited areas would not be possible under the current situation thus in a way putting to rest all speculation and concerns in the neighbouring states.

Rio significantly admitted for the first time that bringing all Naga inhabited areas under a single administrative platform would not be possible. Rio was crystal clear in stating that integration of Naga inhabited areas would involve other states and hence even though the demand is genuine, it is not possible to physically integrate the Naga inhabited areas.

This is a significant statement by the Nagaland Chief minister considering the fact that integration of Naga inhabited areas has been a long cherished demand in the state.

Meanwhile, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio has also clarified that at no point of time has his government opposed the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill. Rio added that the inner line permit and article 371-A are already in force in Nagaland and provided enough protection to the state and hence there was no need to oppose the Citizenship Bill that has created furore across the region.
