BJP’s ally in the Assam Government, the Asom Gana Parishad has intensified its protest against the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
The party will be initiating a public signature campaign opposing the Bill. The party is targeting to collect more than 50 lakh signatures in protest against the Bill.
AGP leader Kamala Kalita reiterated that the party would continue its fight against the implementation of the Bill granting citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshis. Signature campaign to commence from May 12 till May 30.
The party also threatened to quit the Government in Assam if the Centre goes ahead and passes the Bill.
