The complaint has been filed in the Aizawl District Court against people who had made false statements in social media stating that it is Ramthansiama who bought the Mizoram House
Ramthansiama, son of former Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has filed a criminal complaint in the Aizawl District Court against people behind the social media posts that said that it was he who was involved in the buying and selling of the Mizoram House in Kolkata.
There were certain statements in social media that alleged that the non-Mizo buyer of the Mizoram House at Ballygunge, Kolkata was just a cover. The real buyer was Ramthansiama.
In the complaint in the Court, Ramthansiama said that the case under Section 199(6) r/w Section 190 of the CrPC is against the people for “making false statements and circulating the same through facebook/whatsapp against the complainant and his father”.
The criminal complaint also stated that the allegations had severely harmed the reputation of him and his father, and that the people who had spread the rumours on Facebook and WhatsApp did so with the pure intention of harming the reputation of him and his politician father.
Ramthansiama requested that the court take appropriate actions under IPC 499.
It is worth mentioning that Ramthansiama had submitted an FIR on the same at Cyber Crime Police Station, Aizawl on January 16, 2024.
The Mizoram House was sold off during the Mizo National Front (MNF) government led by Zoramthanga and was taken back by the recently sworn in Lalduhoma government during CM Lalduhoma’s trip to Kolkata this January. This was stated by CM Lalduhoma at a Press Conference on January 6, 2024.
