In a massive loss for the Northeast, veteran filmmaker Munin Barua or rather Assam’s ‘Bhaimon da’ as he was fondly called, dies aged 71.

Munin Barua breathed his last during the wee hours at around 1:55 am today. Munin Barua was suffering from Cancer and was in his last stage. Munin Barua was born on November 5, 1946 in Golaghat.

The entire Assamese Film Fraternity gathered at the film maker’s residence to express their condolences. Meanwhile, last respects were paid to the eminent filmmaker at the Nabagraha Crematorium in Guwahati today with full State honour.
