With Russia continuing to hammer Ukraine into submission, the Ukrainian forces are trying to hold the Russians at bay on the outskirts of capital Kyiv.
With fierce fighting still going on between both sides, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has said that western partners are sending weapons to Ukrainian forces to continue their fight against Russia.
President Zelensky also dispelled rumours that he had called upon the army to lay down arms.
Reports have also come in that Zelensky also refused an American offer to evacuate stating that he would rather stay back and fight along with the rest of his countrymen.
Meanwhile, Russian troops have stormed towards Kyiv which has led to street fightings in various parts of the capital.

Reports are coming of dogged resistance to the invading Russian forces in Kyiv which had led to the prolonged siege of the capital city.
It is not yet clear how much of Kyiv has been taken over by the Russian forces, but reports of skirmishes in various parts of the city suggest that small Russian units are probing the Ukrainian defenses to clear a path for the main forces.
Meanwhile, Russia is apparently ready to send a delegation for talks after Ukraine’s invite.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier pleaded to Russia for talks.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has claimed that over 1000 Russian soldiers have been killed in the conflict so far.
Earlier, reports had come in that Russia would be ready for talks once Ukraine’s army stops fighting. According to news agency Reuters, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov had confirmed this.
