Yumnam Sanathoi bags silver at 15th World Wushu Championships in Shanghai

Arjuna Awardee and Wushu player from sports-mad State Manipur, Yumnam Sanathoi Devi bagged silver at the 15th World Wushu Championships in Shanghai, as she lost the final against Yueyao LI

Arjuna Awardee and Wushu player from sports-mad State Manipur, Yumnam Sanathoi Devi bagged silver at the 15th World Wushu Championships in Shanghai, as she lost the final against Yueyao LI in the women’s 52kg category.

Adding to her tally, the silver will be her fourth World Championship medal.

A resident of Yairipok Top Chingtha village in Thoubal district of Manipur, Sanathoi won bronze at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

Sanathoi also won gold at the 2007 National Games, held in Guwahati. The Arjuna Awardee also bagged three consecutive silver medals at the world championships, which were held in Turkey 2011, followed by Malaysia in 2013 and Jakarta 2015.

It needs to be mentioned that, Sanathoi also bagged a bronze medal at the 7th Asian Games held at Incheon, South Korea, in 2014. She again won bronze at the 2014 World Cup, held in Indonesia.

The Wushu Player was also among the 17 players who were conferred the Arjuna Award in 2015.
