Emotions are running high. Be it the 20 year-old young Arunachalee or an 80- year old who had witnessed the 1962 India-China war, the sentiments are the same, the feeling at this point are the same. The only thing that every Arunachalee has in their heart and on their lips is – ‘We stand with our Army. We are ready to stand guard along the China border’.

The clash between the Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9 has once again fired up the extreme sense of patriotism in every Arunachal household.

“We are our Army’s taakat. If there is a war-like situation, each one of us will stand soldier to soldier with our Army. We know how to fight for our motherland,” said a passionate Arunachalee.

“We have stood by our army in 1962, we will stand by them now and we will stand by them in future,” said one local from the Tawang region.

Most Arunachalees have thanked the Indian Army for giving a ‘muhtod jawab’ (befitting reply) to the Chinese troops and pledged to stand with the Indian soldiers standing guard at the border.

“We are warning China not to repeat this again. If need be each of us are ready to stand guard to protect our borders,” a young Tashi Dorjee, resident of Tawang said.

“China keeps fingering us. They have to stop it. Else we will fight back in every possible way. We can fight with words as well as swords,” another resident said.
