In a bizarre turn of events, a man bit a traffic police’s finger who tried to snatch his scooty keys after he was stopped for riding his scooter without a helmet in Bengaluru.

The man has been identified as Syed Shafi (28), a resident of 1st Stage, BTM Layout in Bengaluru.

The incident has been reported from Wilson Garden area in Bengaluru on Monday.

It was captured on camera and the video has gone viral on social media tiggering outrage among people.

In the video, Shafi was seen arguing with traffic police, Siddarameshwara Kaujalagi after he was stopped for violating traffic rules by not wearing a helmet. Amid their heated argument, Shafi hit the policeman and bit his finger to snatch his scooty keys from him.

According to a policeman, Shafi also tried to snatch Kaujalagi’s phone and run away.

In his complaint, Kaujalagi said that when he asked Shafi to park his vehicle, Shafi abused him, quarrelled with him.

Syed Shafi was later arrested, and a criminal case has been filed against him under sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 341 (wrongful restraint), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 392 (robbery), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
